Recently I'd been letting my workload get the better of me, I'd stopped going to the gym, I'd stopped going on walks and I'd even stopped seeing friends. I begun to realise this isn't how I've ever wanted to live my life, I've never wanted to live to work but to work to live. I simply want to work so I can travel and enjoy my life, but i'd started to realise that was not what I was doing. I was simply just working, working and oh yeah...working. I was on a burn out and was going to crash sooner or later.
Low and behold I scrapped that, I still have tons of work and there are times where I have to skip meeting friends or the gym and instead get my work done because that is life. But I wanted to start focusing on me again, I wanted to enjoy the little things again. I am back to going to the gym when I can, I'm making time to see my friends (this is vital, love your friends) and I'm making a little tradition out of going on a nice long walk once a week. Nothing crazy, just the simple pleasures of life I love the most!
Walking is my little escape from all the craziness in the world, I get to focus on my steps, the noises around me, the scenery and just basically not my work.
This blog post is basically to just let you know it is important to make time for yourself!!!! Something as simple as a walk can make the world of difference to your mental state. I promise you, give it a go and you'll fall in love with walking, the sound of leaves crunching under your feet, the small things you'll notice and the freedom your mind will feel.
